“Once upon a time there was a land, where heavens reached all the way down to earth; and the invisible – sometimes – turned visible…”
Every summer from 2002 to 2018, I have spent a couple of weeks together with groups of people coping with functional variations of very diverse kinds. Some participants return from year to year, others are newcomers. Each time we have explored different artistic techniques and themes, framed in an evolving story. Paintings and drawings, papier-mâché figures, masks, embroideries and concrete casts have gathered day by day, expressing emotions and perceptions; forming a language, of sorts, to tell the stories from the Land of Mir – where the invisible sometimes turns visible.
There are so many ways of being human. And every single one expands humanity as a whole.
